Any webmasters here?
on: August 15, 2007, 09:43:52 PM
I've just been landed with a project at work to design, program and maintain a staff website for the company. Basic functions to include posting rotas, providing a noticeboard of sorts.... things like that. Haven't really thought it through yet, need to come up with some ideas and draw the thing before I get stuck into creating the site. Long term I'd like to develop it a bit beyond that but at the moment it simply needs to be functional.

Anybody here build or maintain a website? Any advice?

say, elspeth - you don't have costco's over there do you?  costco has a very very low price to get a web page started.  $20. or something.  click on 'services' - then 'small business' and then - 'small business web sites.'  they have a free site builder.  i think it's $17.95 to maintain per month here (not sure uk prices).

We do have a costco on this side of the pond - I'm not a member, though. Might well be worth exploring though...

You're asking a pianist community if they have advice about websites?  If I were you I'd post a request like this on some other forum where the ratio of competant web designers is a tad higher...  ;)

Thanks for the kind invitation, but I am not a webmaster or even a web designer; the Sorabji website has been designed and put together by two other excellent people and we are very happy about that. Sorry I can't help, though...

I know basic HTML and website design as I have created and maintained a few websites in the past. It's interesting and exciting for the 1st month, after that it becomes tedious and boring.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the language of webpages. It revolves around the use of TAGS.

This may be of help

I'm a professional webdesigner/graphic artist/SEO expert/internet marketer, but sadly, I'd have to charge you consultation fees if I were to get into it.
