permanent makeup
on: August 27, 2007, 01:20:13 PM
i rarely wear makeup - but after taking a drive yesterday and driving by this salon that said 'permanent makeup' i started wondering exactly what IS permanent makeup.  and how do they make it permanent.  do they tattoo it on every cell of your face?  or, do they simply lie and use that use a fake suntan lotion bottle on your face?

i might be starting a job soon and thought, hmm. that would save time.  but, it sounds somehow really bad for your skin for one thing.  doesn't skin need to breathe?  what if you strangled your skin by globbing something on it that didn't come off?

in some magazine i remember a pill that someone ate that gave them a tan supposedly.  somehting in it changed the pigment.  i am typically very fair skinned and the only reason i would use it is to even out skin tones and redness occasionally.

i found out that i would get headaches if i wore makeup on airlines and dealt with flying much better w/out makeup.  i'm just wondering if there Is any such thing as a makeup that lets your skin breathe.  and, exactly how much of our bodies oxygen intake comes through our pores?  if we sweat out water - can we also take in oxygen to the outer layer of skin (keeping them healthy?)  it seems it must be so a little bit - because doesn't makeup clog pores?

ps haha if you thought this was related to thalberg's kabukii doll pianist.  but, perhaps kabuki dolls are on to something.  a mask which you snap into place in the morning - no matter what you look like.  you know, for those times you sleep in and don't have time to do much.

A job, i have heard it all now.

Judging by the photo wolfi posted of you, i would consider plastic surgery not make up.

that was not a good pic either.  it was fairly at a distance and from the side.  it also looked like i had a huge pimple on the side of my face - which i did not.   i'll post something sometime or other.  you'll be surprised, i'm sure. but, i don't really care about posting pics because i don't want to seem like i am looking for attention.  besides, i'm married.

permanent make-up is tattoos, just like any other, except that it's specialized because it's in very sensitive places (lip outline, eye outline, etc)

oh.  i see.  ok.  *wonders how much a pair of lips cost.  it sounds kinda painful, though.

pianowolfi - i just have to ignore thal sometime.  i mean - i was going to dare him to put up a pic of his girlfriend next to mine - but somehow it didn't seem right.  what if ... what if she won?  then, i would really never hear the end of it.

someday i will beautify myself and take some alluring photograph for my husband - and blow it up 100%.  i have never really had one of those 'make yourself look like a movie star' pictures.  the last time i sewed these velvet dresses for myself and my daughter - we got sick the day of the photograph.  everyone was dealing with the flu.  this has been my luck for photographs.

What, you got a girlfriend as well?

OK, you post a picture of your girlfriend and I will post a picture of mine. I will have to get the wide angle lens out though, so i can get the fat cow in the frame.

Oh come now, Pianistimo is not all that ugly.  She just looks like your average 50 year old, weathered and beaten by the harsh punisher we call time.

...

Maybe a little chubby.

...

Actually, she just looks sorta creepy, I think.  In a horror movie, she would be like the woman who seems nice at first and you move into her house, but suddenly strange things start going on and her neurotism starts to show through as her temper gets worse and worse, and at the climax of the movie you wake up and she has you tied to the floor with candles all around you and she is going to sacrifice you to some voodoo god for immortality :O  But luckily, you kill her with a butcher knife (duh)

Or at least you think she's dead.  The house burned down; how could she still be alive after that? :o

oh. thanks!  btw, i'm not 50 yet.  i'm 46.

i'm working on the stomach.  my daughter is not terribly helpful - because she said today that sit-ups don't work if you have a layer of fat over your abs.  frankly, it made me want to prove her wrong - but it might take a year.  having children at home makes a person close to the refrigerator.  that's the thing - if you put distance between yourself and the fridge it's better.

btw, i am not a violent person.  i have been known to drive around animals of any sort on the road (whether squirrels, or dogs/cats, birds, whatever).  and, my children are not fearful of retribution as witnessed today (5 days before her birthday) when i threated three times to spank her if she kept screaming.  if anything can bring me close to violence - it's the six year old - and yet - there's always somehting in my head that says 'you were once six years old.  you once had a hard time controlling your temper.'  usually, by the end - we're discussing and rational again.

the good thing about being an older parent is that typically you don't fly off the handle. the bad thing is - you don't have the energy to even if you wanted to.  you just watch your kids go in circles and then back out to whatever they were doing (hopefully with a few ideas in their heads of how to communicate next time in a more mature way).

how about finder of rare scores.  evilness is really a moral judgement and best left to God - although 40 jack-the-ripper books seems excessive.

Uh, to get back on to your topic, I can help you with your questions.

Permanent makeup is tattoing.  Don't do it, unless you have some true problem like vision difficulties that make it impossible to put on lipstick, or whatever.  If you don't like it later, you're stuck with it, and tatoos blur over the years.

Regular face makeup causes NO problem with your skin "breathing".  The skin does not breathe in any real sense, and it gets its oxygen from the bloodstream.  Heavy makeup can clog pores causing whiteheads, blackheads and eventually, pimples in predisposed people.  Light, water-based makeups and those designed for acne-prone skin will avoid this problem.

All the best,
Teresa

oh fine.  i don't know what for?  is someone going to kiss my feet afterwards?  throw money into the air?  i'd rather just play something easier and then go on to something slightly harder and keep working my way like that.  i really don't like chopin etudes.

here's my plan:

schubert impromptu
barber nocturne
leroy anderson pc
transcription of nutcracker suite
liszt rhapsody espagnole
ok - maybe an etude.

Op10 No4 take 2?

Take 1 wasn't all that bad.  She could surprise us with a take 2.

What about finishing op10 no1, or was that done already.  I haven't seen.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
