When will it stop?  Barabus has a projected 270mph top speed, with a tested 1.67 0-60mph.  The Shelby has already set the world speed record for 257mph, beating the Bugatti's 253.2mph.  Koenigsegg shares the Bugatti's top speed but has a faster 0-60: 2.16 instead of 2.4.   But MY question is:

look how low those three cars are.  I mean christ; the top of the blades of grass are pressing against the bottom of that Shelby.  And NONE of them have spoilers.  How can you possibly drive any of those in anything but a straight line?

The porsche, not the bugatti.  There were at some point some speculations about the Veyron testing on the Nurburgring, but Volkwagen said they never tested there.

And surely many more equally sexy entries are out there.  These are just what came to mind.  I would personally say the Ferrari 599 is the sexiest car ever built, but it would be the last one I would want to own out of that list.  It's got a nasty flappy paddle gear box and is so complicated to drive due to all of the tech stuff they put in it, it basically drives itself, and when it doesn't you better be a computer engineer to not die XD

0-60mph in 1.67 seconds necessarily means acceleration at more than one G. Doesn't matter how funky your drive and suspension are, the only way anyone has ever got a car to do that is the way dragsters manage it - hold the car back while you spin the tyres so that they start to melt and quite literally glue the car to the track. Then let it go, catapult style. I'll be pretty surprised to see any car, with any engine, drive system, tyres etc., do any time much under 3s without such tricks.

Porsche 9ff gt9 has a top speed of 254 mph. it is also a million dollars cheaper than a Veyron ($1.8 million for the Veyron vs. $800,000 for the 9ff gt9).
