Nils probably deleted it. Nils, can you please say why you did such a thing? It was all harmless fun.

So Auschwitz was an example of mere "elitism", in your estimation? Well, I suppose that it's as well that we all now know your stance on this. You may not be especially "camp", but abit more "concentration" on things of importance might not come amiss...

I have seen threads that are more questionable in nature to this one that have gone undeleted.

A simple move to the anything but piano forum would have sufficed.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I second that. People reading this forum could have parents/grandparents who died there. It didn't happen that long ago. It would be wise to remember this.

I was of course exaggerating, but the principle is nevertheless true.

You must also remember that this is evidence of it continuing, which is a very serious matter. Remember that very serious matters are to be joked about.

Fropm the evidence that you provide here, your appreciation is at least developing in a direction of sorts.

You are someone with more concern to make infantile "points" than to express them well but, unlike you, I have said that in one way or another on a number of previous occasions.

Feel good about that.
Your attempt at an invitation here falls, like so much else from you, on stony ground, for it is difficult if not impossible to feel anything positive at all about what you write.

I might, if I were interested, suggest to you that you try to get a life, but I suspect that, if you did, you'd only go visit the wrong supermarket looking for one...

Anyway, to return to the thread topic, wasn't it Haydn that wrote the Moonshine thing?...

Ah - a nicely prepared canard! What a lovely thought! So much lovelier, indeed, than some of what seeks to pass for "intelligent, cultured, imaginative and sensitive" material on threads such as this one. That said, there is also another rumour that characterises at least some musicians as having a very necessary sense of humour...

I apologize for my earlier comment.  Leonidas has valuable things to offer and is a lively member of this community, and as my own comment has shown, not everything I come up with is constructive or worthwhile.

My teacher here has now thoroughly, patiently, and clearly explained to me that this logon name is being shared by all the students at the studio who wish to go online for piano things while we are here.  Therefore, my comments sort of reflect on all of us.

Besides, we have a couple 12 year olds here who are phenomenal.

Better to look as though you're wearing one than actually being one, methinks.

There are questions, difficult questions and very difficult questions - and then there is the one in your current signature. A tempting way to open an appropriate answer might be "how long do you have?" (except that it's generally thought to be rude to answer a question with another question - and we can't have rudeness on here, now, can we? - oh, no, surely not!), but I think that, were I to try to answer it, I would have to say "I have less than no idea", which might not come across as especially helpful but it would at least be honest.

Can we please get back on topic? As much as I appreciate seeing everyone of leonidas' 'arguments' disproved or rebutted, there is a time and place.

Perhaps the thread was deleted because the starter was sick of being told that he'd got it wrong, he did get told quite a number of times, and I think he got the message after about the first two. I would hazard a guess that he asked Nils to remove it, or someone else did. I am aware that he did look extremely ignorant, and probably was so, but 5 people telling him so at once in a harsh manner probably got a bit much.

The main reason for deleting it is however that the piano board is intended for serious discussions.

You should consider deleting the many threads in the Repertoire board that bash 20th century music, in particular the Stockhausen thread. It may stir up discussion, but it is nonsense really, with all the people senselessly bashing it. It deserves to be deleted just as much as Jake's thread.

Has anyone besides me, though, desired to see several other threads deleted from the non-piano board?  I would like to see deleted the following threads: large breasts, urinals, homosexuality, age of consent, rape, death, and the poll asking the opinions about Nils.

Yes indeed, we must all remember that some children frequent this forum, mine included.

But i do agree that the thread in question, "Moonfright", was not offensive at all, and could easily have been moved.

Not that I feel comfortable agreeing with Leonidas.

Don't be such an infantile projectile.

They're all good topics to some. If you don't like them, stay clear.

Yes indeed, we must all remember that some children frequent this forum, mine included.

We must remember that children who use the internet invariably also have access to television.

The policy I go by, is that any discussion that would be OK being broadcast on day-time (pre watershed) TV should be allowed here.

The question 'Daddy, what does rape mean?' should not pose a problem for a good parent.

I have proposed this in the past, and I will propose it again. Nils, if you are going to delete a thread, can you please notify the forum of the reasons why you deleted them? This is partly so we don't go searching for the topic later in a mad frenzy and so we know not to create such topics again.

That depends both upon the extent of the value that you place upon Wikipedia and the various differences between American and British English uses; my point, however, was less about grammatical niceties or otherwise than about the questionable maturity of the writer concerned.
