This article is so great, and it's amazingly accurate.

Which predictions do you think were the most accurate and which were the most hilarious?

No mosquitos nor flies: I wish!

There will be air ships: Damn, that one is very accurate.

Ready cooked meals will be bought: That one is very accurate as well.

Thanks Thal, that was a good read.

Yeah I thought it was pretty cool.

Photographs will be telegraphed.  Quite true.  Taller and longer living individuals, also true.

Interesting.

The ready cooked meals kind of suck though.

I wonder if they could really engineer giant vegetables.  That would be interesting.

The most evil company on the face of the earth.

On their site they make themselves out to be fantabulous.  What do you know that we don't?

And yes, giant produce would be great--especially the huge strawberries.
Another article I read from 1908 predicted we'd all have our own pocket phones and you could call a man wherever he happens to be.  That came true.

You people don't know about Monsanto? That's terrible. Every day, you people use their products and give them money for their crimes.

Almost true - I've seen the ones that are about the size of plums and they taste like sawdust. :P

I particularly loved the "dream" of pneumatic tubes to all houses for delivery of mail and precooked meals and subsequent return of dirty dishes. The possibilities for misuse of this "technology" conjured up some hilarious scenarios in my mind. I can't even imagine the complex infrastructure necessary for this - methinks this particular "expert" was on something when expounding on this.

Yes, that one is sort of hilarious.  Although think how wonderful grocery shopping would be--just open your tube chute and take out your groceries.  I'd love that.  No more hauling bags in the rain.

Another predictive article from 1908 said each person in 2008 would have pocket phones and you could call him "wherever he happened to be."  Now back then, that was dreaming.  But look now!

Another cool thing in a paragraph in this article I posted here was - cars will be artificially cooled like homes are now, and there will be no stops for radiator water when driving.

This article makes me feel great about living now--we do so many things now daily that back then would have seemed like magic.

Yes, unfortunately what they didn't "dream" of was the disastrous pollution and ecological effects of all their predictions. ::)

lol! No mosquitoes or flies, imagine how the food chain would collapse if that happened. Everyone walking 10 miles and if you can't you will be called a WEAKLING!!! lol... that would be nice, but too bad on average Americans are getting fatter and more unhealthy as the years go by. No steet cars in major cities and cities will be free from all noise??? What the lol. Electricity was like all mysterious back then huh :)

well the food chain is collapsing because of the death of all our honeybees.

I bet they didn't predict that the bees would die.

Hmmm...  I think I heard of them from a documentary I saw sometime ago called 'The Corporation'.  It was about the unscrupulous things corporations will do in order to make money, supported by the unwitting consumers who understandably want to save some money.  Then after watching the documentary, we look around and notice everything we live by was supplied by some corporation...  Us terrible people.

I can't remember just what monsanto did, maybe they were the ones that added all kinds of growth hormones to animals that did weird things to the animals and made the food unhealthy.
