moi?  i'm just getting older and deeper in debt.  everyone's getting better at piano - and here i am.  i am playing for a wedding soon - so i am not losing everything - but i haven't exactly learned everything on that list that i gave a few months back.  i've been tanning at the 'Y' and gardening a lot.  then, i'll sit at the piano for a few minutes and go back and watch sponge bob with the six year old.  that's what's happening.  does anyone have a clue?  a piece of my brain has melted.

truly, it doesn't depress me to read pianostreet and i'd like to know what you are lately playing, sharon_f.  somehow, without pianostreet - i haven't the strength to go on.

pianistimo!

I can't believe my eyes.  I'm glad you're back!  You've been a kind -- and often controversial lady -- but a KIND lady and I've lurked here for months and read your posts.  You've kept this forum lively.  You're the real thing:  an American Original and this forum is the richer for you.  You've got a directness that might drive others around the bend, but it's a directness that you believe in.  It may be nuts, but it's authentic.  And I respect anyone who's authentic.

My name is Whit, I live on the island of Kaua'i.  And it's a pleasure to finally meet you.

Welcome back.

Now, Ess, calm down.  I only meant a feminist bond.  Be nice.  We need pianistimo here.  She could use a smart female ally against the male antagonists.  Right?

Mmhmm *raises eyebrows*.

I don't think that that female bond thing really works w/ me, frankly. And I'm more than likely to side w/ the male antagonists, dear. They're blunt and to the point. Makes a helluva lot more since.

So, let me guess, you're this cynical at your youthful age, because of -- what? -- experience?  Observation?  Family dysfunction?  Fashion?

essyne, are you really 19?  i thought when i read your posts that you were a teacher (perhaps you are?) and quite a bit older because you are quite philosophical.  yes (i have been a troll - if reading posts without posting is trolling).  actually, i let my membership expire.  but, do you know what?  i logged on tonight just to see what would happen - and i think someone paid my membership.  must have been thal.  guilt complex and all.

Yours, too, susan.  I'm watching out for the waves.  It's the black-fin reef sharks that worry me, but my Hawaiian friends help me avoid them.  Rule Number One:  don't swim in dark or cloudy waters.  They eat what they can't see.

17  :). And apparently quite cynical. . .  ::). No, seriously though, welcome back. I've actually read a lot of your religious stuff and think that you have an interesting outlook.

I'm not a teacher. I've only played seriously since the beginning of the summer. I just think too much :P.

Any "cynicism" that has been directed at you wasn't. Apparently ppl can't openly state their own opinions anymore without being taken as rude and - what was it? - coming from a dysfunctional family.

Or I could just want to grow up to be Lindsay Lohan, y'know, all fashionable and stuff. Hmmm. . . nope, sorry.

I got in serious trouble when I was there (on the big island, where I was born). Thought the parental units were going to KILL me. Haha - taking a kayak all by myself to where I couldn't see the beach anymore (we were on the North Shore. . . during the summer, of course ;)).

Being 12 and being fascinated by "the turtles swimming all around you" is fun. . . until you grow up and realise that you and the turtles were probably being stalked, lol.

Okay, "family dysfunction," like I said.  Happens to all of us.  Get over it.  How the hell did you think your parents were supposed to react when set off into the Pacific all alone and scared the bejesus out of them?  Dumb-ass.

What? I was just sharing a story. You know, in a conversation. . . .

But thanks, gen, for your shocking interpretations of my life. Next time I do anything, I will remember you and reconsider.

I really don't know what I did wrong. I was just kidding around w/ you, y'know, being a "good sport". I'm not being all passive agressive here by saying that, but it's true.

The bite me thing was sarcastic from my end. I forgot to use emoticons, methinks. Won't make the same mistake 2x's.

Okay, I come on here welcoming pianistimo and encouraging Essy to bond with her, and "pianochick" insinuates that I'm dumber than some kid who all by her 12-year-old self takes a kayak into the OPEN ocean off the north shore of  the Big Island (or ANY north shore of a Hawaiian island), understandably freaking her parents out, and, suddenly, I'm LESS smart than that dumb-ass?

Bite me, pianochick.

I'm outta here.  You babes can stick together.  Sink or swim.  My guess is you'll sink.

Still and all, I'm pleased to welcome pianistimo.

Omg. Gen - I was kidding.

Whatev. I'm not apologizing, but aren't you the one who said that YOU like to "rattle my cage" a bit?

Guess it only works one way.

And pianistimo said you were cool, in different words. She's not insulting you.

EDIT: I read that wrong. I thought you said "bite me, pianistimo". I like pc. She's very open-minded.

As for the kayaking thing - I was just putting in a little aside. It was light-hearted, and it was going off of what pianistimo said. It was dumb, yes. That's why I said "lol" and put lots of emoticons in there. Making fun of one's self often alleviates tension.

That's not cool.

I'm done here, and I will not speak with you again. This may be a forum, but it is still a place for honesty. I've found out about more members like you that instigate these "arguments" (notably certain members who are diehard anti-jazz fans) just to get people riled up.

As for the apology, I don't play that game. Your little p.s. is not cute or witty. Get over your gigantic ego and have a little compassion for others. At least when I'm sarcastic, I say I am. I don't take stuff like that back. You just falsify your own beliefs and then, at the drop of a hat, say "oops! game over!". Get real.

It's not funny. And I'm over it.

oh, please.  whatever.

p.s.  at any rate, pianistimo, a careful reading of these posts will show that I'm genuinely glad that you're back.  As for the others, well, who can say?  The usual misinterpretations prevail here, but I think it's a clear "post-trail" to where the misinterpretation began.  I'm gone for now.  A beautiful sunset is brewing and I want to meet my friends in Hanalei.  Aloha nui, pianistimo!

where should i begin?  introspection, if exceeding the normal limit of several days per year can actually turn one into an avid gardener.  i'm not sure this is good for piano hands.  however, i did teach piano from mid-august thru june of this year - and thoroughly enjoyed it.  it's something i love!  my son is now in community college and working - so we have a 'car wars' thing - where i don't want to hinder him from getting to school or work - so i took the summer off.  hopefully, my job is waiting in august.  also, i want to work at a college nearby as a first year student advisor (don't laugh, ok - this is a good job for me).

I love gardening, pianistimo. . . I think it's good for the hands, as long as you stretch afterward. If it somehow hinders technique at the keys, then it surely makes up for it in what it does for the mind.

Me too! :D  I dug up a big part of my backyard and planted squash and zuchini. Soon they'll be food.  8)

Me too!  :D  s'okay, wasn't the important part. Most of the brain is dead space, anyway.

Glad you're back!  :)  Don't get carried away, now...

well, if 'carried away' means reading the bible - i've been doing that too.  right now i'm reading and posting at the same time.  you see - i have insomnia tonight.  a few nights ago   i was listening to a preacher and he said that he'd go to bed absolutely exhausted and wake up entirely refreshed at 4 am.  (now, this hasn't happened to me quite that early - but typically by 6 am lately).  anyways - so...you wake up.  you don't know why you woke up - unless you ahve sleep apnea - which my husband found out he has.  but, you're wide awake.  now, unless i had a better idea - i'd go with isaiah.  it's saying the holy spirit rouses us sometimes just to meditate.  to have quiet time.  just to think.  people do that with piano - so why not with God.

ok.  so digression over.  gardening.  that's another peace-of-mind 'thing.'  you typically don't get a lot of 'my garden is better than yours' with gardeners.  they are a peaceable sort.  sharing growing tips and ideas.  gardeners are usually found dead in their gardens at a ripe old age - simply from heart attack or stroke.  not from eating healthy.  the squash, pumpkin, watermelon, avacado, fuji apple, blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes (yes - i've planted all this - some vicariously through composting seeds) - and am waiting for a peach tree to arise (unless i seriously smashed the seed too much).  radiation might cause some seeds not to grow or if they grow - not to produce the seed - so i typically buy the plant in nursury...but have been surprised at what will grow from the farmer's market type seeds which are organic.  also, i have snap peas - which are so sweet.  the corn didn't grow at all.  i don't know why.

I have been registered on this forum almost as long as you have. You should know me.

And no, I am not a music teacher. You aren't the first person to think that though. Just another in a long line.

Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.
