IS PIANISTIMO BACK???
on: July 28, 2008, 07:23:20 AM
In the Audition Room I saw what appear to be posts by pianistimo.

Welcome back!!!
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

i feel loved.  i missed you all.  i tried to do important things while i was gone - but my fingers got itchy for pianostreet.  glad that you are back, too - ihatepop.  funny that another term for non-pianists is 'outsiders.'  you can only take so much of them.

i feel loved.  i missed you all.

Perfect sunrise right now.  And a double rainbow.  A good omen!  We're sailing off to Honolulu, then Lahaina, then Hilo.  (I am, of course, the galley slave since the kids are on vacation and I don't have to teach them -- just work with the crew, which I love best.)

Welcome back, p.  Catch you later!

p.s. I just threw that black silk shirt overboard!  Freedom!  Hoorary!

are you SURE you are doing all this?  it does sound good.  hmm.  okay -i might think about that '1000 wishes thread' again.

although, i got sidetracked by the 'pimpmypiano' site.  i thought it was fixing up a piano.  you see - mine has a slight crack in the soundboard now (after 20 or so years) and i've thought of doing something.  i thought the site would give advice on that.

ps you're probably a decent cook if they let you in the galley.  what's for lunch (or breakfast:) )?

Here goes our Thal again, consistently as ever, going on his unique blend of charm offensive that is more notable for its offensiveness than its charm.

Anyway, I only disappear off to Bordeaux for four days and what happens in my absence? - pianistimo comes out of the closet in which she has chosen to hide herself these past 7 months or more! Hello, Susan - hope you're well and enjoyed your break from pianostreet as much as Thal pretends to imply he did...

Pad it yourself, did you? People do not usually hide themselves in padded cells; they are customarily used by others for the purpose of incarceration of those deemed to require it.

Well, much as it might surprise you, me and others, we have something in common here, since I do not have time to sit on my own or anyone else's "ass all day" writing anything of the kind to which you have the temerity to refer.

Yes of course... your 5800 posts reveal nothing about how well your time is spent...

Look, I don't give a (censored) about how you can afford your time, I just know that you do, and from what I have read, I can deduce with relative "temerity," that your income does not come from where you want us to believe it comes. Are you married Alistair? Have some children?

I will repeat what I wrote before, as you were evidently paying insufficient attention:

I have no obligation (and even less desire) to tell you anything beyond the fact that you have no idea either how I can afford to spend my time or what kind of wine cellar I may or may not have.

Why would my posts be expected to reveal anything about how I spend my time when the threads in which you find them are not on that topic?

Look, I don't give a (censored) about how you can afford your time, I just know that you do, and from what I have read, I can deduce with relative "temerity," that your income does not come from where you want us to believe it comes. Are you married Alistair? Have some children?
For someone who claims not to give a (censored) about this subject, you nevertheless presist in writing about it.

What you may or may not "deduce" is revealed by the fact that I have neither given any indication as to the sources of my income nor implied that I would like anyone here to believe that it is derived from any particular sources; in other words, you have "deduced" nothing from no information. As to your last two questions, I will leave you to make your own "deductions" rathdr than answer them, since these matters are no more any of your business than the amount or sources of my income.

I "deduce" that none of the above offers any insights on the return of pianistimo, the rapid return to which will be welcome since it is the thread topic.

I was not going to suggest to you what you should do but I will do so now; why not go and practice some Debussy and/or attempt to write some symbolist poetry? However successful or otherwise either activity might turn out to be, I "deduce" that you would be using your "time" far better on them than on posting off-topic remarks and questions about matters that do not concern you.

As I have already made clear (despite your evident lack of ability and/or willingness to understand it), what I do with my time is neither any of your business nor the topic of this thread; go figure (and act accordingly, if that's not too much to ask [which on past evidence it probably is]...)...

do you think i should leave again?  well, for me - i find musicians with opposing views on things very able to discuss and philosophize and helps me to understand things better than someone who doesn't have any views at all.  musicians tend to be passionate people.

Alistair Alistair, you fail to miss the points which I try to get across. I know you have no obligation to tell me anything, and honestly, given that you seem very reluctant to tell me or anyone else anything of how you manage to sustain your purposeful living, I have no choice but to assume the worst. See this is where it gets fun. I don't care what the content of your posts is.  the fact is that they are posts, and are plentiful in both content and quantity. No person with a sufficiently busy schedule would perpetuate his energies in such a way.

I won't reply to your other statements in your post because I would seem redundant, however, I clearly remember reading something about you having no children. Is that right? If so, are you gay?

Not that Alistair needs my input, but I am personally pretty curious as to what in the world is your point, DS ?  I appreciate Alistair's participation on the forum and if you were asking me the same sorts of questions, I would certainly not feel inclined to answer them.  As a side note, it seems a bit childish to try to taunt answers out of somebody by saying that should they not answer the silly inquiries, they must be hiding something and then "threaten" to "assume the worst."  The questions themselves, coming from somebody with ill-intentions and in the context they are being asked, are the worst !  They just don't deserve answers imo, and I can't see why a person would be bothered to answer them for you.

Alistair Alistair, you fail to miss the points which I try to get across.
Methinks that you perpetrate a presumably unintentional double negative here; well, so what? I cannot be bothered to ask myself (since no such points have in any case even been noticed)...

I know you have no obligation to tell me anything, and honestly, given that you seem very reluctant to tell me or anyone else anything of how you manage to sustain your purposeful living, I have no choice but to assume the worst.
On what basis do you have no such choice? I think that you owe us an explanation of that at the very least.

See this is where it gets fun.
Does it really? You could have fooled most of us, I think...

I don't care what the content of your posts is.  the fact is that they are posts, and are plentiful in both content and quantity. No person with a sufficiently busy schedule would perpetuate his energies in such a way.
Based upon whose opinion? Clearly, you have less than no idea how little time I spend in this compared to what else I do (or how fast I might type such things) - but then who cares? and what does it matter?...

I won't reply to your other statements in your post because I would seem redundant,
An honest admission at the very least - and one upon which some of us here might wish you would act accordingly rather more than you do...

however, I clearly remember reading something about you having no children. Is that right? If so, are you gay?
Although neither is any of your business, I am nevertheless prepared to tell you that the answer to your first question is yes and that to your second is no. Frankly, so what?...

Thank you, Karli, for your welcome commonsensical pragmatism, practicality and understanding; well, I have answered some of these entirely unnecessary questions in any case and am quite confident that, in so doing, I have provided no useful information at all to DS or anyone else, still less anything that bears directly upon the topic of this thread (not that this topic appears to be of any genuine interest to the egregious DS)...

Well, just to be clear, it is not at all that I think the content of the answers are silly, it is more the seeming intent of the questions in this case !  Whatever you wish to share or not share is your business, of course, and just like with anyone else, that information will be as interesting for others as they are interested in it !  I just didn't really get why DS was asking these things at the points where he did,  especially with the seeming intent that he had.  That's all.

Indeed - and I share your far from unnatural lack of understanding as to DS's motives, intentions and expectations just as I imagine many others here may also do. I've said all that I have to say on the subjects that DS raised in such blatantly off-topic manner and I am quite certain that the few answers that I have given leave neither him/her nor anyone else here any better informed in terms of useful data.

Imagine if I'd informed DS that I am bisexual, have 13.6 children, have divorced on eight occasions and am bigamous; irrespective of the truth or otherwise (and I hasten to assure anyone in doubt that it is indeed otherwise in all particulars!) of such a statement, how much better off in any respect would DS have been after reading it?

I suspect that our Thal would describe it all in his uniquely time-dishonoured manner as "a load of bollox"; I would find it as hard as I'd believe it unnecessary to dissent from such an assessment, however more discreetly I might choose to express my own view thereon...

Whatever reasons he may have for asking, i must add that you are a particularly fascinating man, so perhaps he is being nosey.

The veil of secrecy that covers you though, means you will remain an enigma.

Do you believe that there were actual "reasons"?...

i must add that you are a particularly fascinating man,
Methinks that thou flatterest me overmuch.

so perhaps he is being nosey.
No "perhaps" about it - although some of us here might wish for a timely and well warranted disappearance in order that the DS nose can be duly blown in private in whatever time that nauseous activity might take (and the longer the better, perhaps)...

The veil of secrecy that covers you though, means you will remain an enigma.
What "veil of secrecy"? If by this you refer merely to my perfectly reasonable and understandable lack of obvious willingness to answer certain specific questions recently posed, without any justification, by the egregious DS, I submit that such discretion as may be "deduced" from what may pass as my answers hardly amounts to anything remotely resembling a "veil of secrecy" as such.

Ah, well...

Alistair

You speak much but reveal little.

More is known about Bigfoot than the elusive ahinton.

I hope that neither is especially true but, in so doing, I hasten to assure you and anyone else interested that what I might "reveal" in posts is for the most part intended to be germane to the thread topics to which I contribute rather than "about" myself in any personal sense - as should be the case, methinks...

I cannot make a realistic quantitative judgement on that, but why would anyone especially need to know about me (still less expect me to provide all manner of personal details) when there are so many threads here on other subjects?
