on: July 28, 2008, 04:17:15 PM
A fellow grad student and I have created a new site called www.PimpMyPiano.com  8)

In there you will find a wealth of useful information on practicing, technique, and other things related to the world of piano playing.

Enjoy!

Why would you name and promote a piano site using such a derogatory, misogynistic term such as 'pimp'?

I find the use of such a term extremely offensive and at the very least childish and sophomoric.

For your elucidation, the low-life scum who 'pimp' women for real have no soul and should be in jail where they belong.

The women who find themselves in such a position of being 'pimped' are often drug and alcohol addicted and would wish more than anything to be liberated from the miserable existence they find themselves mired in.

Also, the use of such poor English on the site adds nothing positive to the lexicon and in fact further erodes it. The only 'playa' that I know is the Spanish word for 'beach'.

I will not be visiting your site again.

allthumbs,

I'm sorry to hear that you find our page offensive.  Our intent is to create a community where young students can learn and share information related to the piano, in a hip and positive environment.

What point would that be? I can't relate to the whole 'gansta' thing with the 'bling', whatever the hell that means nor do I listen to 'rap music', an oxymoron from my point of view.

Roy Orbison rules! ;D

Allthumbs.  A pimp is indeed a derogatory term, which is a noun used to describe a male who procures customers for female prostitutes.  For pimpmypiano.com, it is used as a verb and therefore loses it's whole defamatory meaning.  "Pimp", in the modern world, means to "deck out" or to decorate in such a manner to enhance the look of an object which in this case is a piano.  It is in no way referring to an actual pimp.  I know it's a modern term and sometimes we can get a little "behind" in modern day word uses.  It only matters about the meaning the word "user" puts behind it.  But no worries...the modern world can be quite a bit hectic.  Whatever makes you tick.  Just don't be ignorant.

Hey guys, just wanted to let all of you know that the forum is back up and running again.  The reason the forum was down was because we were having some problems with spammers.
