Bernhard's 5 year plan thread?
on: August 09, 2008, 05:20:32 PM
Sorry to have to make a thread to find this but I have been looking for a while now and still not come across it. I think it is a 5 year plan, but he talks about how many pieces a year to do and such, although my knowledge is limited as to what it contains exactly which is why I want to find it.

Thanks to anyone who can direct me to it.

There are many threads that touch on Bernhard's 5 year plan. If you want, I can give you a couple more links. But if you're truly serious, you'd want to search all posts by Sir Bernhard as they are full of useful ideas.

Yeah thanks Mackenzie, that's the one.

Thanks also Db05, the other two threads look useful.

eidt: Wow  :o  these are my favourite threads on the board at the moment, I have a load of Bernahrd links I have been going through but I am finding these incredibly useful. Just drawn up a new plan for this coming year using a hybrid model of Bernhard's plan and can't wait to get started.

I knew you would like them. I have to warn you, though. Can cause insomnia. Which is baaaaaaad for learning.  ;)

And lina rose, don't say it's a great plan until you've tried it, or seen someone do... I don't know yet if this plan is for everyone; I'm not jumping up and down as expected. There are some on here that have tried it, but they're at a different level. So experience may be a factor.

of course, we should try before saying anything, but the plan is a way of organizing yourself and things work much better for me if i'm  following a schedule. That's how i do with my homework and studies for school. Why is it causing you insomnia?

Yes, lina rose. Now with this newfound interest in Bernhard's plan, I'm wondering why none of you have posted their "Bernhard Hundred" yet.

Come on guys, what pieces are you dying to play? Have you started learning them yet? I am also wondering about your progress. And yes, I will post my B100 if you ask nicely...

well since you asked...

i dont care how long this takes to get done, just aslong its before i'm dead  :P

but anyway,

Chopin -

Complete Nocturnes/Preludes/Waltzes/Mazurkas/Etudes/Ballades/Polonaises

Funeral March
Cantabile
Fantaisie Impromptu
Berceuse
Barcarolle
Concerto in F Minor, Op.21
Scherzo in B Minor, Op.31

i think thats about it as far as chopin goes  ;D

i have loads more pieces to play by other composers but i feel this is enough for one night :P

frank, you really love Chopin, don't you? I guess the first step would be to secure as many Chopin pieces as possible.

I love Chopin, Debussy and Scarlatti, but I don't see myself playing every piece by them.

I want to play a whole suite, preferably Suite Bergamasque or Suite Espagnola (I also have this in my guitar list- just to play this on any instrument would be nice).

Beethoven Sonatas - of course, Moonlight and Pathetique. Maybe also Hammerklavier.

Mozart Sonatas - Sonata in A, the one with Alla Turca, and Sonata in C K545, the "easy" one

some pop songs and soundtracks (Chrono Cross, Naruto, etc.)
