Locating classical musicians in your area
on: October 26, 2002, 12:01:29 AM
I am a 16-year-old pianist (almost 17), and my focus is on classical music but I know hardly any other classical musicians personally.  This is a terrible feeling.  How can I meet other musicians of my kind?  Can you direct me to any other websites that might be of help?  Could anyone tell me how I might meet some in or near West Metro Atlanta, Georgia?  Thanks for any help!
It's GREAT to be a classical musician!

Hi Thomas_Williams!
I too will be turning 17 shortly at the end of November! I love classical music as well! Unfortunately, I don't live close to you around Georgia, but there are other people our age on this forum! If you'd like to share some thoughts, you can send me a private message or an e-mail. Welcome to the forum!

Hi there.

I know exactly what you guys mean; a lack of people to talk to (or to compete with, a little bit) is always hard; I unfortunately can't help you since I'm German and that's certainly quite a distance from Georgia..
But Steven's right, you'll find a few people at the forum.

Welcome to it!

Thomas,

Coincidentally, I also live in Atlanta, Georgia, but I just began teaching myself the Paino, so I am no musician and don't know any.

But if you contact the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, they should be able to hook you up. I think they can also arrange for you to meet their pianist(s) as well, and your acquintances can grow from there.

Most piano stores also have a list of such people in the Atlanta area.

I would start by visiting the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Website, and the Arts colleges.
