What are the differences between the two competitors?

McCain is too old, too crippled and obviously losing his mental faculties.  Otherwise, why would a man of his experience and intelligence have Sarah Palin for a running mate?  She's been offically charged with ethics violations in Alaska, where she is governor, a state, btw, whose population is one third that of Brooklyn, NY, and where she's only governed for 20 months.  Prior to that she was mayor of a town of 7000, known for alcoholism, epidemic rape and Right-wing Christian zealotry.

Read any of her "speeches" and responses to journalists and you know she has no background, no real education, no sense of grammar, BUT she has good looks and an overwhelming talent to stir up hatred in her listeners.  She's got the ears of America's most stupid, ill-educated and misinformed sentimentalists, i.e. the American Christian Right.  She's the "patriots'" poster girl. She's unofficially speaking for the racist element,  so powerful in America, who won't tolerate a (half) Black man in the White House.

She postures herself as a super-patriot and All-AMerican Mom (gag).

The irony is that her husband, who will co-govern with her if she is elected as he's done illegally in Alaska, was, until 2006, a member of Alaska's notoroius Alaskan Liberation Party, organized to secede from the US.  The Party is well-known for its inflammatory rhetoric denouncing the US.  She herself was keynote speaker at that Party's convention in 2006, so she's tied to this radical anti-federal party as well.

A patriot?  No, she's a self-serving, ambitious monster who's gotten lucky.  She ain't Evita, but she'd love to be.

Obama/Biden, though not perfect, are far preferable to this fascist wind-up doll.

McCain, clearly, should retire.  He's too old for such an arduous job.  It will kill him in two years and Palin will govern.  The ultimate nightmare for thinking Americans.

p.s.  if you challenge the above statements, go to ANY news outlet expect the fascist Fox News Network (owned by Ruppert Murdoch) to find verification.  If you're European, read the unanimous condemnation of her in the press on your side of the pond.

I have.  Palin would be an absolute joke if she weren't so frightening.

I really regret my first post. I actually really dont like Obama that much, its just that the Republicans have scrared the living sh*t out of me and I am afraid that this country is on the verge of Theocracy and Facism. That being said, I dont think that the Democrats really are going to fix some of the real problems in this country like the National Debt and even bigger issues like getting the country off Fiat Currency, climate change (most Republicans dont even think that this is a issue) and even more pressing(IMO) , abolishing the Federal Reserve.

If Obama wins after this election I plan on working with the Libertarians. I really believe that we need to return to our orginal Constituional roots and principles. Whatever the Republicans say they are NOT about the constitution. Whatever happens we cannot allow the conservatives to win. To much is on line, especially when Sara Palin is the Vice President.

Might want to abolish the Electoral College too.  Total joke.

Alas, I fear the Republicans will try to find some way -any way- of stealing the election.  Those miserable bastards just have too much at stake.  Screw the American voters, they just have to stay in power and will go to any length to accomplish that.  The Bush years have given big business and powerful lobbies complete carte blanche, and do you think for a moment they're going to allow an Obama victory?

I agree with argerichfan.  The Republicans, since that moron Reagan, have bamboozled the ridiculous Right into believing that what is good for the rich is good for everyone.  It's been the first salvo in their fascist "revolution."  Trickle down, my ass.  The rich have sucked it all up for themselves and given nothing to anyone.  America is all but doomed.

I can't imagine how Obama can stay alive and, at the same time, reform this terminally corrupt system.

That's my fear--some racist idiot will take him out. On the other hand, Palin was a brilliant choice for McCain: she is assassination insurance!

The American Dream Vs. The Gospel of wealth.

Truth be told, if McCain had picked a Vice-President that wasent such a wacko (Lieberman would be a great choice!) I would actually consider voting for him just to help balance things out a bit. Its a tragic thing that he had to pick Palin. Its pretty well known that McCain really dident want to pick Palin, but was forced to satisfy the conservative base.

American politics is such a rotten thing. And its only gotten more worse too in the last couple of weeks. It's a sad (and extremely dangerous) thing that the Republican party has been hijacked by such radicals as Bush and Cheney.

One of the big problems in American politics is that its become so damm polarized and partisan. There are very few political moderates anymore. Im almost as much as afraid of Obama in the White House with a huge Democrat majority (they will be able to pass anything they want) as much as the Republicans.

The gap between the rich, the poor and even the middle class has really opened up the last few years. Hopefully the Democrats will be able to stem the flow but I dont know if it can be stopped by regulations.... Like I said before this country really needs a HUGE change in the way it thinks about things.

They're just eating up Republican propaganda, they aren't thinking for themselves.

But that of course is the nature of propaganda.

Oh dearest Americans, please go to the polls on 4 November and get your country back on track, okay?  ;)

I think much of the world has that greedy mentality as well, to a lesser degree.

*rc kicks back and curiously wonders how it will all unfold*

Former Secretary of State and Republican Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama today should be a big boost.

America has to start someplace.  Long way to go, but a McCain win won't accomplish anything... except, of course, give the Republican agenda more opportunity to screw the country with their vulgar greed and social neanderthal policies... and ultimately cause America to be more hated than it already is, if that is possible.
