Which Haydn sonata?
on: January 19, 2009, 08:38:41 PM
Which Haydn sonata should I choose if Iam an intermmediate piano student? I don't know these sonatas well. I played this one https://cz.youtube.com/watch?v=H7IeSOY4s9c (it's not me who is playing)  - but it was abit hard for me.
and this one https://cz.youtube.com/watch?v=-ed6r1ymkts (it's also not me) - but this one is abit easy for me.
Any suggestions?

its funny because both of the sonatas you posted where the 2 i was going to suggest

Maybe this one?

Or this one (perhaps a bit easier, but fun)?

Or maybe this?

There is a book published by Kjos---Haydn Sonatas w/CD----includes the C major one you listed. I use thes all the time--great starter Sonatas.

There's quite a lot to choose from! If you go to www.pianosyllabus.com and enter composer=Haydn title=sonata and grade=8 you'll get lots of pieces around the same difficulty as the two you mention.  Also, have a look at Hob XVI:37 and 40.
