Shark spotting.
Five days ago, on this little bay I live on, a deep sea fisherman swam onto our beach with four, huge bleeding parrot fish that he had speared. They were each about 3-feet long. He and I were sitting in the surf checking them out, when I saw this huge black-fin reef shark coming at us. They NEVER swim into our bay. Ever. They have tons of food outside the reef -- fat, juicy monk seals, etc. But the bleeding parrot fish brought this one in.
We jumped out of the surf, dragging the fish with us onto the sand. This shark, over six-feet long, came thrashing at us and actually partially beached itself. Then it sort of exploded in a frenzy and threw itself back into the bay. At the water's edge, the ocean is only about 2 1/2 feet deep, but this big shark was hanging out in that shallow water for over two hours. Watching us. Once in awhile it would circle around the bay, but it always came back.
While it was still doing this, a neighbor came down to the bay with his dog and the dog freaked out and jumped into the surf to get the shark! We tried to get the dog out, but it was too late. The shark got him. One bite and he was gone. it was awful.
The shark seemed to be gone by the next morning. But all I do, now, is sit on the beach and stare at the ocean. I haven't been back in the water in five days.
I'm obsessed with this shark. It's too creepy.
