Common superstitions of pianists:
- That it's possible to play "with fingers only"
- That it's good or necessary to have certain feelings (angry, sad,...) to play a piece well
- That in the fingers there are muscles
- That for gaining technique, you have to "strengthen" the muscles
- That it's possible to play "just the notes" and add the expression later (something unthinkable for wind or string players!)
- That your technique is good if you can put a dime on the back of your hand and it doesn't fall down
