tds,
I use the term "serious music" as opposed to the term "classical", which some associate with a certain era of serious music.
I'm really interested in how people determine whether a piece of music belongs in the "serious" realm or "pop" realm.
Is it complexity, form, length, chord structure, or just a certain aura conveyed to the listener?
I just find it interesting that throughout history, certain composers weren’t considered serious composers at first, but later quite the contrary.
Best, John
