New repertoire
on: April 02, 2009, 02:19:24 AM
I want to play something new, i.e., composed in the last 10-15 years.  Nothing too long, up to 15 min.  Any suggestions?

Vine's 3rd sonata is not bad at all compared to the other 2. Take a look at that.

Hmm I've only heard the 1st and 2nd.  Who's recorded it?  Has it been posted on GFF?

It hasn't had a commercial recording yet. There is a live recording of Elizabeth Schumann floating around. An incomplete recording was posted on GFF. I have a complete recording (and the world premiere), but I don't feel like posting either on GFF, really.

Maybe you can share it with just me?!  I won't give it to anyone else if you don't want me to.

I always liked Vine sonata no.1 as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's 1993 if that's recent enough for you.

I'm pretty sure it's from 1990.  The 10-15 years isn't a definitive cutoff.
The first sonata is new enough for me.  But too damn difficult from what I can tell.

Cos I'm Aussie I'll suggest Elena Kats-Chernin :) She doesn't aim for complicated crap to impress which I like a lot. I remember hearing her piece called Page Turn at the Sydney International back in 2001 I think, it's very good.
