VILLA LOBOS

hello all,

i have come across a piece by villa lobos, called POEMA SINGELO...

id like to find a recording of it... any suggestions...

this piece seems very modern in some aspects awhile still having some very romantic moments... i think its great, and though im only a beginner... have started to work on it...

im done almost done with the first page... essentially the theme, and am looking forward to the rest...

ps- any opinons on this piece, villa - lobos, other composers from the early to middle 20th century (in his vein) are welcome!!!

My two favourite recordings of “Poema singelo”  are with the late Brazilian pianist Arnaldo Estrela (“Antologia da música brasileira” vol. II – Festa) (This may be difficult to find outside Brazil)  and with Cristina Ortiz (Villa Lobos: Piano Music – Decca) which you can buy here:

I just finished cleaning up some bad noise on some recordings I had, and I'm posting here if anyone's interested. The first file is a studio recording by legendary brazilian pianist Guiomar Novaes, playing several underplayed piano works (circa 1950-60), and the second is a Villa-Lobos only program by pianist Cristina Ortiz, still performing nowadays (live non-commercial recording, taken from her recital on Florianópolis, south of Brazil, on 2003).
