Interesting comparison. I also listened to the Prokofiev recording which I had never heard. In the first two, the big difference is the recording itself. The '44 recording had a wonderful full sound to the piano with lots of harmonics. Argerich's was very dry and typically recording studio material. I'll have to opt for Horowitz. The Prokofiev was really interesing. Wonderful wonderful sound and piano tone. Never never a harsh sound. And I enjoyed the bridge to the coda with no stopping. Certainly not technically up to par with the the other two, but I enjoyed it immensely.
