The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

CPE Bach Solfeggietto - notes doubt
on: December 26, 2009, 04:34:24 PM
Hi !!

i am currently learning this funny piece. I have 2 different editions, and they have slight differences:

1-Bar 13, left hand.
One edition has single notes (G and F), and the other has Octaves (G-G and F-F).

2-Bar 8. LAST note of the bar. One edition has C and the other has D.

What do you think is the correct way to play it?

Thanks !!!

Dear Stormx,

1) The left hand in bar 13 is in octaves, which helped to create the dynamic difference on Mr. Bach's piano.

2) D, without a doubt.  The harmony is dominant seventh, and there is already a C on beat 4, which resolves to the Bb on the downbeat of the following measure (the D in question resolves down by 5th/12th).

Best wishes,
Jean-Baptiste Morel
