I've avoided Rach like the plague because he's just intimidated the bejeezus out of me.   But I've also progressed a lot since I started back to playing nearly 2 years ago and would like give a piece a shot over the summer while I'm not taking lessons.

Please suggest something that isn't psychotically difficult.   The most difficult piece I've learned to date is Haydn Sonata 37 Hob XVI:37.   I imagine that in terms of difficulty to many of the players here, that would equate to a Fur Elise difficulty would to me (i.e.  pretty basic)... but the piece was a challenge and I learned SO much with it.

Currently learning:
Chopin Prelude Op. 28, no. 15
Schubert Sonata in A Major, D.959: Allegretto

Try his Prelude, opus 32 no 5. You can find the sheets here:https://imslp.org/wiki/13_Preludes,_Op.32_(Rachmaninoff,_Sergei).
