Somewhat new, young pianist -- tips?
on: June 10, 2010, 06:35:17 AM
Hey,

My name is Fernando Aponte and I have been playing piano for almost 3 years now.  I started lessons when I was 11 due to the fact that I picked out songs from video games I played(Zelda :D).  I am into more modern music, but I do also play classical.

I play the piano with my hands very low...someone pointed that out to me.  I can't play any other way.  Just a habit, but it's very comfortable to me.

What I really need help with is not actually skill but would the way I play affect how I sound?  Are there any good piece suggestions?

I have a few videos on my YouTube account... Not sure if it is acceptable to post my account link but it is here(
mon5000).  Oh yes, and I am 13 years old now.

Thanks for any tips or comment... This is my first time joining an online website about music.  Glad to be here.

Fernando

My daughter is learning Midna's Desperate Hour.   Our teacher thinks it's a weird piece.   :)
Currently learning:
Chopin Prelude Op. 28, no. 15
Schubert Sonata in A Major, D.959: Allegretto

Thank you, Butterfly.

dss62467 - I've learned most of that song. I think it sounds rather melancholic in a good way. :).

As I near high school, I've been left with 2 decisions.  Technology, or Music.  I am a website designer and I love computers...fixing them...working with them etc etc...but I also really love music.  And I've decided to give it all up and stay with Piano.  Is that a good career to keep throughout my life?
