Good Chopin etude for development?
on: July 17, 2010, 09:33:00 PM
I've played op  10 no 12 and op 10 no 1 and discovered that my technique in my left hand and my arpeggios improved drastically after learning them.  which other chopin etude is better for improving technique?

The focus of each etude tends to be limited to specific technical issues.  Choosing from them based on an interest in technical improvement is dependent on which aspect of technique you want to address.
What passes you ain't for you.

Try op. 25 no. 12 in c minor for arpeggios or op. 10 no. 8 in F major for descending arpeggios.

Oh, honey, ANY of those Etudes WILL definitely improve your development...emotional(frustration and patience), physical(will my short fingers ever reach those notes!!), mental(whoa! Am I suppose to actually LEARN these notes?!!  :o  )
Just be brave and pick any Etude, they are just right for anything you want to learn!   ;D

Have to agree with go.  Any of them will improve your technique with careful study.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

How is op 10 no 8 or op 25 no 11 "winterwind"? how will they help your technique?

I agree with go12-3. It is a bit of an odd question to ask.

I depends of what you want to improve.  :)

If you want more left hand work, Op. 10 No. 9 and Op. 25 No. 4 are great.
