The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

great piano, cant get a good feel for it.

Hello,

I have a relatively new upright piano. I just can not seem to get a good feel for the keyboard. The keys seem like ice(slipery) and I can not find the keys easily,it seems I am always misjudging the location. The black keys seem narrow but how can this be? This is very frustrating. Does anybody have any experience with this. The piano is a YAMAHA U1. I play at an intermediate to advanced level and I have had the issue for over a year.

Thank You
Jeffrey

My god, this sounds like every pianist's nightmare on trying an unforgiving piano before a recital! slippery white keys and black twiglike keys that cast forbidding shadows and look bigger then they really are.
You might have something there.  The plastic used to make the ivory look-alike keys could very well be cold in a cold room.  There might also be a slight narrowing of the from the base towards the top
of the black keys.
In the long run, it might help your accuracy in hitting the right notes, who knows?

Thank you Birba for you're response.

Maybe the slickness of the keys just affects my confidence. I know I feel more comfortable on a nice dirty keyboard LOL. Ever hear the old Horowitz story about the hairspray. Yup , even tried that. Maybe pine tar .....eeeek!
