Okay, Benjamin Grosvenor pops up here. This is interesting to me, because I just was introduced to his playing yesterday by way of a broadcast which had been recorded and I received...well I just listened to the full recital, Grosvenor replacing Mark Latimer for a Wigmore
Hall recital, February 15, 2010 in which he played 3 Kapustin Etudes, Op 40 no. 6, 7 and 3, the Liszt B Minor Sonata, and some Chopin, the posthumous C sharp minor nocturne and 3rd Scherzo.
Yes he easily held my interest with a unique, raw, free and refreshing personal approach. I've never heard the Liszt B minor dance like that, almost influenced by the Kapustin set...but not derogatory...very fresh, and even very subtle and sensitive. Sensitive...that describes much of what I heard, and I'm sure this whole thing was done on short notice.
Isn't that cool I receive a broadcast of this guy I've never heard of, and bam he's being promoted on this forum? Ha!

November in London seems to be the place to be for good concerts.
Howell, Powell and then Grosvenor.

I just saw some bits on youtube. I had never heard of him. My god, what a pianist. And he's only 18! Formidable playing.

Only 18 - but he's been a major face in the UK music world for about 8 years already. I think I might just go on the 24th and see what the fuss is all about.
