Okay, Benjamin Grosvenor pops up here. This is interesting to me, because I just was introduced to his playing yesterday by way of a broadcast which had been recorded and I received...well I just listened to the full recital, Grosvenor replacing Mark Latimer for a Wigmore
Hall recital, February 15, 2010 in which he played 3 Kapustin Etudes, Op 40 no. 6, 7 and 3, the Liszt B Minor Sonata, and some Chopin, the posthumous C sharp minor nocturne and 3rd Scherzo.
Yes he easily held my interest with a unique, raw, free and refreshing personal approach. I've never heard the Liszt B minor dance like that, almost influenced by the Kapustin set...but not derogatory...very fresh, and even very subtle and sensitive. Sensitive...that describes much of what I heard, and I'm sure this whole thing was done on short notice.
Isn't that cool I receive a broadcast of this guy I've never heard of, and bam he's being promoted on this forum? Ha!
