Help Me Choose An Advanced Piano Song!
on: February 10, 2011, 02:09:53 AM
Can anyone help me find an advanced piano song to play?
I need this to impress random people who come over, etc.
Im considering
at the moment. Im level 10 RCM piano, but I doubt that makes a difference.
Anything advanced, not extremely long (not over 15 pages) and anything YOU think will be moderately easy to learn. Thanks all.

That piece you quoted is very hard to play.  No where near grade 10 RCM.  There are many techniques you probably have not yet covered if you have not played beyond the grade 10 level.

You don't have to play something hard to impress ordinary folk.  Just play it really well.

Perhaps:

Or maybe you are ready for a Chopin Etude.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Wow, your skill level must be well beyond if you're playing the first page of the Volodos transcription well after two days.

I'm surprised, though, that anyone with such prodigious skills would need to ask strangers on an internet forum for "impressive" pieces, or would even be concerned with impressing people, or (most surprising of all!) would refer to piano pieces as songs.
What passes you ain't for you.

So you are in RCM 10 but can play way above the level?  Do you just want and RCM 10 level piece to play?

Not exactly grade 10, but cool piece:

I just found this fourm.
I can play the FIRST page well within around 4 days.
Not extremely hard.

Uh-huh, first page is what I said.  I've seen the score, and I'm duly impressed.

Well, you wanted an advanced piece that would be "moderately easy to learn" ... so I'm glad you were able to find it on your own after all.  (And you've already managed to impress random people, too!   ;) )
