POSSIBLE REWARD: HELP NEEDED ASAP
on: February 26, 2011, 02:46:14 PM
Hi there,

I was wondering if someone can help me out here. I have an assignment called 'Copy My Hero'. The name tells you what to do, you have to pick a song, a keyplayer or a band that you really like and copy the keys as correctly as possible. I chose for 'Just Abuse Me' by 'Air Traffic'. The song is not that hard, but the solo is quite fast anD kind of hard to hear. Now I hoped someone over here could help me find out what he's playing before this monday (a.k.a as soon as possible, so that I can also study it still). If you can help me, there could be a reward.

I hope to hear from you!
Thanks in advance.

I agree with Perfect_Pitch, I think you are missing the whole point of the assignment. If the teacher wants you to learn a piece by ear, then I am sure they wouldn't want you to just have someone write it out for you. That being said, I would think the teacher would have given you much more direction if you haven't transcribed before. First off I would have thought they would assign some easy pieces, it can be really hard to hear fast passages without slowing them down.

Transcribing is and art and not everyone can just jump in and do it. Did the teacher just blindly give you this assignment, or did you not pay attention for all the directions on how to transcribe. In fact I would think having someone work with you in the same room, both of you figuring out the notes, would be a better way to teach this subject than to just throw you into the deep end. A good teacher would also understand that if you bit off more than you could chew and came back saying you need some help, it shouldn't count against you.

Either way, it's not a good precendent to just ask someone to do your assignment for you. You won't learn what you need to learn, and your teacher will be given the false impression that you already know more than you do. How can the teacher judge if you have learned if you "cheat".
