"Fantasia Infernale"
on: February 27, 2011, 07:13:21 PM
My mood of yesterday
I don't really know what to call an impro like this, it's certainly not a prelude, impromptu might do but I'm getting seriously sick of using anything that starts with "impro"..So a fantasy but maybe it is the beginning of some larger dark gothic work, who knows?
I must say I like like very much to have found this Improvisations-board, you can learn much from other people's music here, and it's not so rigid as the audition room
Suits me.
I must say with this piece I feel that if modern classical music could be x-rated then this would certainly qualify

I sometimes have difficulty with the term improvisation myself, even though that is a good description. I like the thought of spontaneous composition, or impulses in that direction, but I cannot be satisfied with that for it never seems worthy. Now Fantasia...that is a very good and descriptive term.
This sounds like a prelude to something bigger, and it could go either direction...a violent eruption, or a tranquil meditation. That would be the after effect of a turbulent episode.
I enjoy your stuff!

I like this piece. I'm not very good at commenting music, but I like the simple structure and the low chords accompannying the melody. There is more I like about it, of course, but I can't put it into words.

I'm not sure if it actually ain't the lower octaves that are singing melody here, at least for the most part of it

Yeah, well, I'm not sure either, but I'm getting tired of writing just "I like it." all the time.
