Help identifying this piano
on: April 08, 2011, 01:39:23 PM
I recently got married, and have been given an old Piano. I have not used it much as its a bit out of tune, and has a few dead keys.... But all in all it sounds, or has the potential to sound great in the right hands.
I had a look to try get as many details as I could and its made by Chandler & Held Piano Co (New york) and the serial number is 4001
Seems to be an old Company that I cannot find much about online or anywhere for that matter.
Any help would be great as I have spent alot of time researching with minimum results... and thats made me more curious.
It seems ot be from the early 1920's ? :P

It sounds interesting. It is always nice to see pictures of the case, and the action and frame, and a shot of the tuning pins area. This wouldn't help me answer your questions, but might help solve other queries you have, or help others. 4001 is quite a low serial number.

Not much information available for this company most likely because it was purchased by a larger one…
Most were out of 4 digit serials by 1910.
