Haha, I'm sorry, guys! I meant Sonata 3 in B Minor Op. 58.

And Thal, you're too good.  :)

Tchaikovsky Concerto 1? Have you played it? I started learning it, but after the really good opening, there's pretty much nothing worthwhile until the ending of the 3rd movement again. I'm sorry to say, but it's not one of my favorites.

Ravel: Concerto for L hand - starts with growling (?bassoons) like demons from the depths and plays around with jazz and fluffy arpeggios and things and ends with a magnificent serious and hymnic cascade of deep bass piano octaves and swells of washing waves. You wouldn't suspect the left hand played all this. An absolute masterpiece. My other choices lay below at this point: mostly anything Chopin wrote esp Preludes, Beethoven some, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin (Promethee)(preludes).

Try the 4th concerto! It's my favorite of the 5. And the 5th is a close second. And for fun, the Etude en forme de Valse, hehe...

(To give you a hint, I don't think I'll ever play those pieces, especially the etude...)

Waltz for Debbie - Bill Evans
Cake Walk - Oscar Peterson
Bach - Partita in C Minor (a lot of Bach pieces really stand out but heres just one)
Brahms - 2 Rhapsodies Op. 79
Schoenberg - 3 pieces Op. 11

and Concerto probably the Schoenberg but Brahms 2 and Shostakovich 1 are close contenders

In no particular order:

Liszt Sonata in B Minor
Beethoven Sonata op 57 "Appassionata"
Wagner/Liszt "Tannhauser" Overture
Chopin Ballade 4
Chopin Ballade 1
Chopin Sonata op 35
Chopin Scherzo 2
Liszt Apres Une Lecture Du Dante
Liszt Reminiscences De Norma
Beethoven Sonata op 13 "Pathetique"

and Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto.... 2.. or 3........ 2....3 .....2...3............2!
Of course, if you asked me tomorrow, the list and the concerto would be much different :D

6 months later I will alter this...Still some consistencies, but differences too.

Liszt Sonata in B Minor
Beethoven Sonata Op 57 'Appassionata'
Chopin Ballade 4
Liszt/Busoni Fantasy and Fugue on Ad Nos Salutarem Undam
Liszt Pensees des Morts
Liszt Aux cyprès de la Villa d'Este (Both)
Liszt Ballade 2
Liszt Tarentella (Venezia e Napoli)
Beethoven Sonata Op 27 no 2 'Moonlight' (Forgive me, but the famous first movement is what it is, and the finale is just remarkable).
Schubert Impromptu Op 90 no 4.
Concerto: Rach 3

Again, tomorrow it will be different...however Rach 3 tends to remain a constant, same with the Liszt sonata, Appasionata, and Chopins 4th Ballade.

(I just noticed I greatly prefer the minor keys, lol. Like 95% of the works on both Liszts are in minor keys).
