HELP!!! I NEED SOME ADVICE!!
on: April 15, 2011, 08:32:52 AM
 :-\
I am on my way on practicing keyboard by myself ('coz i don't have a choice  :P... No fund for piano teachers). By the way, my keyboard has only 54 notes, super sensitive keys, and no pedals... :P (I wonder if i could really practice in this kind of keyboard) ...

My problem is, I really wanted to play the piano because I always dreamed to sing on stage while playing my keyboard... But there are times that i don't feel like practicing piano because it makes me a little bored and empty... I felt like, i don't really know what to do... I started reading some online piano lessons but when i played my keyboard, I felt like "what!" what am i playing?.. It so boring!!...

Whew!! BUT I really need to know how to play that stupid keyboard!...
PATIENCE!! PATIENCE!!!.. IS THAT ALL I NEED???

Yes, patience is all you need. I have played the piano for over 11 years now, and it hasn't always been fun. Sometimes you'll be bored, sometimes you'll be frustrated, sometimes you'll just be in a lot of emotional and mental anguish even, but you've got to have patience or just force yourself to keep practicing every day. Persistence is key.

I was going to post a response, but enharmonic pretty much summed it up. If I may add, I'd say finding the motivation to practice is key is being a better musician. When I don't feel motivated, I feel bored, and I don't want to practice! So find motivation and use it to its fullest. Even if it is reminding yourself that you want to do it, or even composing your own pieces to make practice more interesting.

Good luck with your studies.
