I gave two piano recitals in May. Both featured Beethoven's Appassionata and Liszt's Reminiscences de Norma but filled it out with shorter pieces by Alkan, Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Schumann that differed each night.

The programs and notes are here

I'm still refining the Alkan and Liszt works for upcoming performances in the "noncompetitive" part of a piano festival. Also learning Schubert Piano Sonata in A minor, D784 and will start Barber Excursions next week. I welcome suggestions for additional repertoire for recital in a year or so, considering my style, strengths and weaknesses. I posted most of my recital pieces on YouTube (search "David Tao piano recital" and 14 videos should be found). Afterwards, I felt that the programs, while well-received were too taxing considering all the pieces together, so next time I'd like some more lyrical pieces (the Schubert being a good example, IMHO).

Thanks,

David

You should try some two-part inventions and Hanon before playing these pieces. They aren't that hard, but too hard for you.

either I'm missing something but Hanon? Do you mean the exercises? Go back to Hanon exercises after doing pieces like "Appassionata"?
