Book on comping
on: June 23, 2011, 01:27:30 PM
Hi,

I'm looking for relevant books on ballads/popular music/contemporary-style comping. There's loads of literature on jazz piano comping but that's not quite what I'm looking for. This style typically adds 9ths to the chords, use 11th and 13th chords as dominants, keeps the bass note over a chord prorgession etc. A typical example of a comping in this style would be this:

&feature=related

I guesse you get what I mean.

My reason for wanting to learn this is not only for comping but also for improvising in this style.

I searched on Amazon but couldn't find anything on comping in any other style than jazz.

Any ideas?

Resources on the web or other advice are welcome as well :-)
Thanks, Carl

I'm learning comping with this book to.

I skiped all the first chapters and went down to the Pop Ballad chapter.

Its a great book, but you need to apply every lesson, or will you forget it easily.
