I wear them!  Reading at a young age will cause you to need them later- statistics!  That is why smart people are always depicted wearing glasses.  I dont know a single football jock that wears glasses. hmmmmm...

I dont have problems with sight while playing the piano, in fact I think it makes it harder. I cant see very well far sighted though.

Heh...I read a lot when I was a child.  Piano music probably also damaged my eyes :p.  Though, I am near-sighted, either caused by my eyeball being too long or my lens refracting light too much.  It apparently runs in families, so I blaim my mom ;).

Heh it's funny because I never thought I needed glasses.  When signs became blurry, I always blamed the sign makers for not making the font bolder or something or bigger.   8)

It was also funny cause when things got blurry, they became blurry naturally and gradually so it was super hard for me to notice until I got my first pair in grade 10.  HOLY COW! I said, this is like playing video games with a 3D accelerator while not wearing glasses is like 8 bit video games!

Yes, and now I have oakley RX glasses...kick @$$!

Glasses at age 12. Hard contacts (ouch!) in my twenties. Soft contacts since then.

Has anyone here tried those new "transitions" lenses that turn into sunglasses when you go outside in the light?

I used too!!!!

Glasses at 9/10 years of age.
Hard Contacs at 12.
Soft at 15.
Extended wear at 23.
Had Lasik 1 1/2 years ago.

Now I'm 20/20....perfect vision.
Really nice! I love it, and wish I would have done it sooner. It was my Christmas present from my Mother!
Whats really great, is being able to open my eyes under water and SEE!!!!

I can understand that DonJuan, I used to feel that way too, but now it is done so frequently that the risk is virtually nil. It took approx. 25 seconds to do each eye, I could have driven home without glasses 10 minutes after having it done. But I had worked all night the  night before, so I just stopped off on my way home, had it done, went home to bed, and when I woke up, WALLA.... perfect vision. It was really weird. I couldn't feel anything. Other than having perfect eyesight, I wouldn't have known I had anything done! No pain, nothing....and it was SO fast. I worked that same night, and went swimming at the gym the following morning. I did not experience any difficulty seeing at night. I know dozens of people who have had it done, some on their lunch hour, and no problems.

I do know of one gentleman, he did not acheive 20/20 vision though. It was better, but not 20/20.

I would be more concerned over breaking a finger playing the piano, than going blind from this surgery! ;)
But then again,....with any type of surgery, there can be risks.

I do miss wearing the colored contacs though...those were pretty neat, especially the purple/violet   and  gold colors. Those were my favorite to wear! Guess I could always get some that are none Rx!

I wear corrective lenses.  I wouldn't even consider any kind of eye surgery until these geneticists can come up of a way to genetically correct my eyesight.  And then they can shoot me up with some kind of booster helix that will improve my piano playing with less practice. ;D
