Bach - Prelude and Fugue in D major, BWV850 (WTC I)
on: October 31, 2011, 01:47:07 PM
the prelude and fugue in d major from the first book.. one of my favorite preludes is this finger exercise which is ap ure joy to play.
the fugue is a very simple four voice fugue.
this set has the added bonus of being recorded by schnabel, i believe the only excerpt from WTC that he recorded.

Very nice, and one of my favorite preludes from the wtc. This is one where there are considerable variations in the nature of the interpretation chose, from blazing fast like richter, to obscenely slow. I went to a contemporary art exhibit a few years ago that had slowed it to about one note per second and put it as background to a video exhibit. Strangely it was still recognizable. Anyway, I like what you have done here, which is no surprise to anyone.
