Chopin Etude Op25 No11
on: November 14, 2011, 01:10:11 PM
I just love playing this Chopin Etude.

The one below is played WITHOUT pedal

There are some spots I can tidy up somewhere.

I've only listened to the pedal version.

Speed: Inconsistent in the beginning and the end, could have slowed down more particularly during the end to create dramatic effect. Good speed however.
Expression: generally not bad. Bring out the melody just a little more and try to supress the right hand a little more, and maybe shape it a little. Good attempt at melodic shaping. one thing I like about your playing: I think you utilized some rubato.  ;D Just do slow practice with full expression and maybe even hands seperate with expression.

BTW I like this etude A LOT and hope to learn it in 10 years or less.
Funny? How? How am I funny?

Since I can't play this myself - I don't feel I can give you technical advice!  The only thing that struck me was that the balance between right and left hand could be refined - you have the notes, which is a massive achievement in itself!
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

Similar to Op10/8 where the melody is in the left hand and the technical challenges in the right.

Then there's Op10/12 where you have to shape the left hand while bringing out the right hand melodies. Imagine the stuff in the left hand being played in the same dynamic.  :P

This one has the same challenges for independence of hands.
