Frédéric Chopin - Waltz, opus 64 no 1
on: January 19, 2012, 03:07:36 PM
When playing up to speed, I reach bar 10 & have problems hitting the trill on the second E. It's naturally easier to play on the first E (like in bar 12).

I also have difficulty 'walking' all the notes together and find it hard to keep the same speed.

Any advice?

Thanks

Re the trill, you need to start it on the F - in fact you can get away with a single grace note F onto the second E as indicated in a number of editions.

Re evenness of speed, try counting 6 to the bar until you get nearer the proper speed when the 3/4 takes over.  You can even use a metronome (shudder) set at that 6 clicks to the bar.
