Has this happened to you before?!
on: February 08, 2012, 05:03:41 PM
Is it normal to have a piece you've just started and when you play it you already know how to do it straight through I have no idea why it's only that song "winter storm" as soon as I played it I already can play has that ever happened to any of ya'll before.?

Sometimes there have been pieces that I feel deeply as though I already know and am intimately familiar with and as though it's already, intrinsically a part of my soul.  But, I've always got more to learn about them, too.

I understand what you meant and that is what I meant, too, but upon playing it, it feels familiar.

No!  Some pieces seem more comfortable to play than others -beyond that no magical empathy.
When a search is in progress, something will be found.

With a piece my mother used to play. My teacher thought I'd been secretly playing it before I'd been assigned it. It she looked like she thought I was cheating.
I imagine this is part of the reason that Suzuki advocated listening to fine performances of the pieces you are learning. Not that my mother is fine pianist. :)
