Good exercises for practicing voicing?
on: February 09, 2012, 04:20:33 AM
I'm thinking on that...

Something that gives a chance to all fingers to be voiced.

Loud, soft, etc.

Hmm....
And there's whatever the rest of the fingers are doing while one (one?) note is being voiced.  The chord voicing/position of the chord -- close vs. open.

Or even a Bach sinfonia too. Any polyphonic composition is good, especially by J.S. Bach. I sya that Fugue is even better because they ahve multiple layers of voices and you have to voice the subject entries to make it stand out and make it musical. That is the whole point of the fugue, in my humble opinion. And don't forget the art of fugue, the ultimate fugal composition and also Bach's ricecars.
Perhaps some Scarlatti sonatas too especially the slow ones where there are sometimes polyphonic.
I recalled once that Czerny composed a polyphonic study on fugues. The sheet music can be found on IMSLP.

Bartok In three parts from Mikrokosmos :)
OK ... I know that's not the level you were thinking of. Maybe for  a quick warm up. :)
