Scriabin Sonata 4
on: February 27, 2012, 04:38:25 PM
Hello everybody!

hesitated long enough whether I should post this or not, but after all I want to share it with you :)
The recording was done before Christmas 2011 at a little concert at a fellow student's place.

Now I know the second movement isn't yet a voluptuous ride of a Prestissimo, but for now it was more important to show the different melodies, which would otherwise get lost.

I really enjoyed this performance; good dynamics. I am a big fan of Scriabin.

This is a difficult piece. In the second part, there were a few times where I felt you were struggling a bit. But again, it is a difficult piece and fairly long :-)

I would think the second, more animated half should be played a bit faster, though I am probably a bit biased after listening to commercial recordings.

Thanks for sharing this recording.

Thanks CG for your comment.

It could definitely sound more fluent, but I trust this will come over time...for a non-professional enthusiast it can rest a little for now :)

I was not so familiar with the fourth sonata yet (though I have surely heard it somewhen in the past, especially from Ashkenazy's recording cycle) and I like it so much, really! You gave me a great deeper introduction to this sonata which caught my interest immediately and inspired me to discover this opus more in depth! :)

I'm happy I could show you something in a new light!

This sonata has always fascinated me for its delicate intertwining melodies and light atmosphere - Pathos and Eros in a dense form.

Very nice playing, Ans. :)  Thanks for sharing this with us.  Up till now I've heard very little of Scriabin's sonatas.  This was good to hear, and I liked it.
He was not of an age, but for all time.
