Program for Competition?
on: March 20, 2012, 02:14:48 AM
Hello everyone!
Next year, I believe I will be doing a statewide competition and I am trying to decide on what I shall play for it. I'm not entirely sure of the details, but I think that it must be a fairly long program. Here is what I have come up with:
Bach - WTC Book 1 Prelude and Fugue no. 2 in C Minor
Prokofiev - Piano Sonata no. 3 in A Minor
Schubert - Impromptu Op. 142 no. 2 in A-Flat (or no. 3 in B-Flat)
Mozart - Piano Sonata no. 14 in C Minor
Chopin - Mazurka in A Minor
If needed, I also have Gershwin's Prelude no. 2 in C Sharp Minor finished and in my repertoire. My question is - would this work? Is there anything I could do to make it better? I thought the contrast between the Prokofiev and the Schubert would be really cool, but I'm not completely sure about the order and other things of that nature. Once again, the competition isn't for a long while, and I'll talk with my teacher about it as well.
