I love these Shostakovich Preludes, and I've had a good success performing them this year. They are very effective.

At any rate, I won't play these pieces in public again any time soon, so here are the recordings.

these Preludes are so unusual, they make a very good contrast to the standard works in my recital program.

Dear furiouzpianist, I love your performance of Chopin's Etude Op.25 No.8. It has a subtle and 'chopinesque' touch that is perfectly posed. The single little problem- the tiny breaks between the triolets interrupt the phrase. The nuances are gorgeous and what can I say, you are a real pianist. The Bach has a very clear phrasing with a couple of wrong placed accents but I can hear the theme easily and that's quite surprising because I heard tons of great pianists who didn't bring the themes as you. The Shostakovic preludes are very impressive and as you said, they make an interesting contrast to the other pieces. Can you play a sonata because that would be lovely.
Hope you will post videos because I'll love to see your hand position and body posture+ your gestures when playing.

furiouzpianist, I want to tell you that your playing of the Chopin 25/8 induced me to do an experiment.   In uninterrupted succession I played Chopin 10/4, 25/6, 25/10, 10/2 and 10/7.
Now admittedly, my performance of them is far from flawless.  But I did get through them, up to tempo.  On the other hand, I try to do 25/8 and I start hitting wrong notes all over the place and my  hand hurts less than half way through.  As far as I'm concerned, the etude in sixths is MORE DIFFICULT THAN ALL FIVE OF THOSE ETUDES COMBINED.  You're doing a positively spectacular job with it.

i like the shaping of the prelude but i think it is too fast, the reason i say that is because when you get to the 32nd notes they are not that articulate and dont have the zing they would have if you could really every note. i think there's a little bit of rushing at the end!
i like int he fugue how you distinguish between the fake and real entries, its really good. tho sometimes the subject seems too heavy? maybe the piano you are using. its very creative with the dynamics tho i am not sure all necessary, but to each his own!
