Being very adventurous in food matters (an other matters as well), I must say that the list has some great delicacies.

1.      Ox tongue. Ox tongue is positively delicious (but it must be prepared properly). I am particularly fond of a German recipe, where the tongue is sliced thinly and served in a thick Madeira wine and butter based sauce. And of course many people eat it without realising it is tongue: Pastrami, which you can buy in posh delicatessens and use into sandwiches is just ox tongue.

2.      Sea-Urchin. I love Sea-urchin. It is very versatile, but my favourite is sea-urchin omelette (just mix it with the eggs). It is also very good for you being a rich source of Iodine amongst other goods.

3.      Tofu is another favourite. Its versatility is without par. I have eaten it in all forms with great relish. However nothing tops tofu curd -  which is the freshly made tofu just before it is pressed into shape -  with a bit of soy sauce and grated ginger. However, I really dislike Natto (which the Japanese in general love), which is a fermented soybean product, very gooey and bitter.

4.      The Durian fruit - and its relative, the Jacknife fruit – “Jaca”-  are also delicious, a juicy cross between a peach, a mango, and a banana.

5.       Although with age I lost the taste for most offal, in my younger years I loved liver and tripe. A particularly favourite recipe was tripe stew with white beans and chorizos and smoked bacon (or any other charcuterie). I was never fond of brains though, although I have eaten them on occasion.

6.      I have eaten far weird foods than the ones suggested in the article. I don’t eat junk food though, and I draw the line at snails, that much coveted French delicacy.

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Same here.

I read that list and was thinking, "foods you have to have guts to eat?  These aren't even CLOSE to being some of the weirdest foods out there!"

I'm a picky eater, so I'm pretty sure all the stuff here would make me throw up. :) Except for the ox tongue. I've eaten cow tongue before, it's pretty good. I don't expect ox tongue to be too much different... Also, what are the weirdest foods you guys are thinking about?

I can't believe how they described kimchi!  It's not fermented, its ripened.  It is not stinky in a bad way, and it is bery delicious.  Hot, maybe, but very good.

This is not as "weird" as a lot of other things, but it is probably the weirdest thing I have eaten, and where else to tell the tale but here?

I tired oysters on the half shell with cocktail sauce and horseradish as well as an oyster shooter with a lemon chaser (he he) and I absolutely loved them (the company was fairly intoxicating as well, this may have altered my sensors a bit)!

Anyway, just had to share my enthusiasm... so try them, try them!   :D

I eat sea urchin from time to time...actually just can't get enough of it... ;D Especially the ones imported from Japan are the best...although quite hard to come by and pricey....too...But I've tried much weirder things like fried insects when I visited Thailand.......actually they turned out to be quite yummy.....not as gross as I thought they would be...

once i ate some ants on accident.  They were hidden in a bunch of chocolate covered raisins and it was dark so I didn't see them.  it was really weird but I am not sure if it was really yucky or not.  But, spam is very gross.  and I hope my mom never sees this, but her meatloaf is kind of gross also, but I have to eat it.

bye,
Clair

Can't say that I've had any of the "wierd" foods, but one food that I find disgusting (to the taste) above all others (and I'm a very picky eater) is squash. ICK!!!!! Just thinking about squash makes me want to rinse my mouth under the faucet for a while.

I am one who will try anything, as long as its dead. The only time I've really regretted being adventurous with my taste was at the British Embassy in Japan. I was at some formal function, can't actually remember much apart from a particularly embarrassing moment involving a young Japanese lady coaxing me to try a "snail delicacy"... It was to me horrible, and I had to rush out with my hand claped to my mouth. The delicacy turned out to be raw snail!
Since that I'v always asked in detail what it is before popping it into my mouth, just in case...

I LOVE Kimchi and Durian - two of Asia's finest delights IMO.

Food I'll never try even if I was starving to death;

- Blood sausage (aka "black pudding" in the UK)

- Haggis

- McDonalds

Haggis.... heaps of people have told me it's delicious and now you're another one. :)

But I still am not keen on trying little bits of lungs and heart and liver in a bladder bag...

McDonald's seems heathier to me than most British foods. I was watching Jamie's School Dinners the other day, the foods the poms eat is disgusting (except fish and chips!)

I pretty much won't eat any meat other than lamb or chicken so everything else can count as yucky  :P
btw My dad loves durian and took full advantage of the abundance of it when we were last in Singapore. I tried it but don't care for it.

YUCK:

1. Ginger. I know this is a favourite Chinese spice, and I'm Chinese, but . . . ugh!!
2. Chinese celery. What a stench!
3. Rhubarb. Tastes sour, that's all.
4. Hot dessert. Silly! Aren't all types of dessert supposed to be served chilled?

YUM:

1. Literally all sorts of Japanese sashimi.
2. Which means I also love sushi and Japanese cusine in general.
3. Korean cuisine.
4. Oranges, apples, pears, grapes, mangoes, mangosteens, durians, jackfruits,  watermelon, honeydew melon, hami melon . . . virtually all fruit, especially juicy and chilled ones.
5. Chickens, ducks, geese, lamb, beef.
6. Sugar canes.
7. Eggs, especially half-boiled eggs that still have fluid yolks.
8. Steamed seafood of all sorts.
9. Chinese fresh water (hairy) crabs.
10. Ice cream.
11. Chilled drinks (non-alcoholic).
