Favourite Songs/Composers
on: May 26, 2012, 04:14:16 AM
I just joined this blog and so far I think it's really cool!  I finally have somewhere to talk about my favourite pieces, composers, etc. without my friend always going "What?". ;D  I can ask people what they find hard in piano, whether they like Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, or Beethoven better.
Tori Lu!!:)  I <3 Tchaikovsky!

Welcome, TL!

 I picked Pachelbel's canon in D. It's a great piece.

Yes I have found this to be a great place to discuss piano with very understanding people. So go ahead and start with questions or whatever.  So what are your favorite composers or pieces ?  I saw your poll and it is very thoughtful. Fur Elise or Canon in D -- well I would pick Canon in D because it is so much more "hummable" but that is not to take anything away from Fur Elise.

I love Beethoven, and Fur Elise. I would say choose the piece that inspires you the most and motivates you. I would also say learn both of them, lol

One at a time of course! :D

I voted for both, the poll stated to pick up to two options ! Fur Elise is transparent, you can't slip and not have the slip up heard. Canon in D rich, starting in pp ending big and strong with FF.

This may be one of the clearest most fluid Fur Elise performances I've ever heard. And also Valentina's other work is very much worth hearing. Notice the audience is willing to dismiss Fur Elise in the beginning but not by the end. Looking up other youtube selections from this concert is worth while as well. Shes quite a piano player, I've been looking up lot's of her works and performances . Shes coming into world recognition quickly.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

Welcome to the blog. Fur Elise and Canon in D are great - real classics. You should try some Chopin as well. Check out this article I wrote as a beginner's guide to Chopin - it's got so great YouTube performances embedded in it as well...
