Piano-Yoga
On a related note, Penelope Roskell, a professor of piano at the Trinity College of Music in London is also an advocate of yoga for piano playing. However, I have no idea how much, if at all, the two teachers overlap in their approach.
Well, yoga in itself is very useful if you have the right attitude. The only suspicious thing is when the advertisements start promoting never-seen heights of perfection through such exercises. It's nothing more than stretching your fingers to get a cat-like flexibility, so you are ready for the real work.P.S.: Personally, I have a site in my bookmarks (favorites) that has nothing to do with piano playing. It's called Finger Yoga and I use those exercises extensively. But it's NOT something I would advertise or recommend anywhere. And I also like this exercise: Finger Stretches for Lumbricals and Interosseous Muscles of the Hand. It would be irresponsible, though, to advertise that as the key to piano playing.Paul
Haven't been through that. I can only say that we already had some topics before on this forum that made me suspicious:Increasing your hand spanNew Piano Playing TechniquePaul
