The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Leaving 5th note out of a chord
on: July 01, 2012, 01:00:02 PM
How is the chord called when you leave the 5th note out? For Example:

C = C E G
CMaj7 = C E G B
? = C E B

I'm asking this because I'm writing the chord names on the top of Moonlight Sonata's sheet to easily be able to remember the notes when playing the song. So far I have:

C#m | C#m/B | A - D/F# | G#7 - C#m/G# - C#sus2/G# - G#7 |

The first G#7, the bolded one, is missing the D# note. How should I call it then?

That's still a G#7. The seventh is there.
