Pianistic style inspired by opera?
on: September 20, 2012, 03:44:06 PM
Recently I have come to appreciate opera more and more -Having a digital piano enables me to sing along -with the added benefit of recording without anyone having to put up with the torture of listening to me sing!
I have always been aware that Mozarts' keyboard style was very influenced by opera -not so much with Beethoven -Schubert is inspired by leider more perhaps -as is Chopin and Schumann -
Are there any other composers who wrote for piano who composed with a kind of operatic style -?? I can't really think of any surprisingly-possibly in the baroque era Handel had a lot of aria type structures in his music -
In the 21st Century I also think Philip Glass is very influenced by opera -

I didn't know I could create tumbleweed threads -but it appears I was mistaken -

LOL, a hidden talent perhaps?
For my part, I've never understood what anyone meant when they said Mozart's piano works were operatic (though have heard it said often enough). So the connection appears to escape me too much to suggest what others might have it.
