Für Elise.
I am not saying it sucks, but I will say that I personally can not stand it. I think this stems from the fact that it was the first "real" classical piece I learned as a kid. My father, who listened to nothing but country western pre 1960's, wanted me to play it over and over and over. The reason for this I believe, was not that he took great joy in this piece, but it was solid evidence that his hard earned money (and it really was hard earned) was paying off. In short order, his investment in my lessons had me playing "high brow" music, and by gosh he was going to listen to it whether or not he liked it or not. On the flip side, I could never say no, because my parents had modest means and did everything they could to buy me a piano and give me lessons. I wanted it, they thought it would be good for me, and they made it happen.
So, Fur Elise, over and over and over. I will still play it once in a while to remind myself of playing it for my Dad, but yeah I can't say I love this piece at all.
