Ravel's Miroirs or Debussy's Images?
on: December 02, 2012, 07:42:24 PM
Just a general comparison. Which is your favourite piece from each, which is you favourite overall, and which suite do you like better overall?

From Images my favorite is Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut, and from Miroirs my favorite piece is La Vallée des cloches. However between the two suites  I prefer the Images.

My personal favourite from Images is Cloches A Travers Les Feuilles, and I like Une Barque Sur L'Ocean from Miroirs. I prefer the Images as well.

I am more drawn to Ravel than Debussy. And I prefer the difficulty of Ravel's  music because to me it is more rewarding, musically. But I do like Debussy. I simply do not prefer him.

I haven't listened enough yet to have favorites within each set, but on the whole I prefer Ravel over Debussy. The one exception is Suite Bergamasque (the WHOLE thing, not just Clare De Lune)
