My progress on learning Tchaikovsky First Concerto!

What happened to the89thkey? he went from making like 40 post per day to a complete ghost , guess he got really mad and locked himself to practice the Tchaikovsky.

He's realised that we can see his history of posts and time spent doing them and also realised that the time plan he constructed in this thread doesn't quite fit with those numbers.

No doubt some technical glitch will mean I will be unable to post a recording and my loss of memory means I cannot tell you who the conductor is.

Start work on the Sorabji 5 tomorrow which should keep me busy until lunch.

Pff! I've learned all of Mozart's concertos last month, I memorized 1 each day, the last few days I've been rehearsing them with a secret orchestra. We'll have a private concert tomorrow in my basement, too bad most of you won't be able to assist, it'll be a marathonic recital, all of Mozart's piano concertos! I also prepared a few pieces for the encore, I was thinking maybe Rachmaninoff's Paganini variations or Liszt's Totentanz, what do you guys think? (why not both!)

I could never do that. It usually takes me at least one try at sightreading before I can memorize something.

Not bad, but not as good as my Telepathic Memorization, I can learn a piece while a composer is thinking on it before writing it.

Well I don't want to brag or anything... but I can do even better than that!  I can go into a different dimension where I can see, understand and know every piece that has been or will be or might have been written, ever! as if I wrote it myself!  So in less than a second I can play ANY piece perfectly and not only that!!!! I can play more than one piece at the same time because I can split myself in that other dimension so there can be as many me's as it needs to be, all playing all of the pieces perfectly at the same time! 

(I'm only pretending to be grade 5 piano of course, and to be practicing Tchaikovsky's Sweet dreams and Chopin's Waltz in a minor right now, just to see what it feels like to not be able to play something perfectly in less than a second    ).

I just transcribed all 24 Chopin Etudes for castanets, just after I arranged (and memorized) all 32 Beethoven Sonatas for P.D.Q. Bach's Left-handed Sewerpipe!!!

You're right that must be a VERY special talent, I can't even imagine what that must sound like!!!!  You HAVE TO record it and post it so I can hear!!!

I'm not sure I would agree about this.  I have always felt that the number of hours that one can practise can be increased over a period of time. That is, and certainly in my case, it is possible to build up concentration and focus over a period of time.  My regular practice used to be around 5 hours which I always increased to 6 or 7 for an exam or performance.  I used to do around 1 hour on each piece or each movement of a piece. 

I believe that mental stamina can be increased in a similar way as physical stamina.  I've never practised for 8 hours but in my youth I most certainly would have if the workload had been great enough.  Having a performance as a goal is a great way to increase mental focus!!!

You need to concentrate on your lips, using too much tonque is not what will get you there...keep practicing!

I'm not quite sure what you mean... 'started with 5 hours'?  My point was that practice time can be built up gradually over a period of time, especially if there is a strong desire to play and to achieve personal goals.

And to call yourself a concert pianist, I find it strange that you don't tell us who you are. At least half, probably even more, of becoming a concert pianist is promotion, and you haven't really done that at all, on a board filled with pianists! And since you claim you can learn the Tchaikovsky in sort of a week, you should be a rather good pianist.

Look, when you come to a forum filled with classical piano die-hards, and decide to make such extreme claims public, you need to be willing to reinforce it; especially when you are claiming to be a "professional" pianist.

You say you are learning a towering achievement of virtuoso piano repertoire, something that would take even a sufficiently advanced pianist a few weeks to be performance ready, in an extremely short period of time; surpassing the learning curve of greats that have recorded definitive performances of the piece. And, on top of that, you have also stated that you learned Rachmaninoff's 3rd, a piece that would probably take many of us our whole lifetime, in a mere week?

Why would you be telling us your progress/successes unless you were actually intending to show us? What good does it do for you to let us know? What good does it do for us? Your analysis of the score is so reduced, merely a mention of the "octave storm" that almost everyone who has heard it knows about, gives us no notion that you are looking for advice or tips on theory. You see, most people who do post progress reports here are actually looking for some type of pointers or constructive criticisms, whilst you are just spastically spewing out a bombastic statement.

Please tell us what you expect from us? Do you want a pat on the back, a cookie, for your achievements? Even if you are some transcendental prodigy, are you just trying to show off? Or are you simply some bum, with no desire to practice, living off your wildest fantasies on a forum?

Whatever it may be, there is a reason why you posted this thread; simply that you expect some type of input from us. Well for input, you're gonna have to produce some type of output, or we all go nowhere.

Oh btw, if you posted a recording (audio, no need for video, we don't need your identity), i'm sure nobody would reproduce and distribute it as you think. All the greats have their stuff ALL over youtube, and they don't seem to give a damn. If their income isn't affected, then why would an unknown like yours be...
